Right to object to data transfers under the Federal Registration Act (BMG)

According to the Federal Registration Act (BMG), you have the right to object to your data being passed on to certain recipients who could receive such data in accordance with the statutory regulations.

In accordance with the BMG, the registration authority transmits data to 


  • Religious communities under public law (Section 42 (3) BMG),
  • parties/voters' associations and other supporters of election proposals in connection with parliamentary or local elections (Section 50 (1) BMG),
  • address book publishers for the purpose of publication in printed address books (Section 50 (3) BMG),
  • to the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Personnel Management (Section 58 c (1) sentence 1 SG)
  • to the Senate Chancellery or the Bremerhaven Magistrate as well as to the press and radio for the purpose of honoring marriage anniversaries and old-age anniversaries (§ 50 para. 2 BMG, § 6 MeldDÜV).

Data subjects have the right to object to their data being passed on without giving reasons. You can declare your objection not only when registering or re-registering, but also at any other time. 

Please note that the objection only prevents the transfer of data in the above-mentioned cases.
