If you have successfully completed an engineering degree or obtained a technician's degree, you can become self-employed in the trade requiring admission to which the study or school focus of your examination corresponds.
Basic information
The register of craftsmen is a register in which all
- natural and
- legal entities and
- partnerships with legal capacity
who operate a craft subject to licensing as a standing trade. Travelling trade and market trade are not included in the standing trade.
A complete list of crafts subject to registration can be found in Annex A to the Crafts Code (HwO). The craft does not have to be exercised as a whole, as the exercise of essential (partial) activities can also be considered. Conversely, it is conceivable that several crafts or essential activities of several crafts are to be exercised. If several crafts subject to approval are practiced, each of these crafts subject to approval must, as a rule, be entered in the register of crafts.
Furthermore, the company management is entered in the Handicrafts Register if it is responsible for the technical management of the handicraft business and has the necessary professional qualification to carry out the handicraft requiring approval. Both the owners of handicraft enterprises and employed persons can be considered as company managers. The proof of qualification can be provided by presenting a university degree certificate or a certificate of a passed technician examination. The focus of the training must correspond to the craft that is to be practiced.
