Registration for the Abitur at the college


If you want to acquire the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) as an adult, you can apply to a second-chance school. Find out more here.

The college is part of the adult school's educational program. It is aimed at adults who wish to obtain an Abitur. The Kolleg is a full-time grammar school course with five teaching days and approx. 32 teaching hours per week. Depending on the school requirements, the course lasts two or three years until the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) is obtained. The school year begins after the summer vacation and is based on the regulations applicable in Bremen, including the vacation regulations. Attendance at the college is free of charge; under certain conditions, BaföG can be applied for. Admission to the college is subject to certain conditions.

Requirements

  • You are at least 18 years old in the school year of registration.
  • You have obtained the Mittlerer Schulabschluss (secondary school leaving certificate).
  • You have completed vocational training or have at least two years of professional experience or other substitute periods. Periods of unemployment (up to 12 months), military service, civilian service, voluntary social/ecological year can be counted towards the period of employment. Running a "family household" (at least one child belongs to the household) is considered equivalent to professional activity.
  • You have proven your aptitude in the entrance examination. The entrance examination comprises the subjects German, English and mathematics.
  • Applicants for the qualification phase (Q-Phase) must submit a transfer to the Q-Phase or a Fachhochschule certificate instead of the MSA certificate (intermediate school leaving certificate). An entrance examination is not required in this case.
