Register collection of organic waste


You can register the collection of your organic waste from your private household.

Biowaste is a material and does not belong in the residual waste garbage can. Only organic waste belongs in the organic waste garbage can. You can dispose of organic waste in the organic waste garbage can or compost it yourself. The size of the organic waste garbage can depends on the volume of the residual waste garbage can.

Biowaste includes kitchen waste and plant waste.

Kitchen waste:

Leftover bread and cake, fish and meat, including bones and bones, fruit and citrus fruit, salad and vegetables, egg and potato peelings, solid food such as leftover cheese with natural rind, sausage, nutshells or leftover food, tea leaves and bags, filter bags and coffee grounds. Also kitchen paper used in food preparation

Plant waste:

Flowers, balcony plants and contents from flower pots without wire, twine and decoration. Small quantities of garden waste, such as shrub and grass cuttings, prunings, leaves and wild herbs.

This must not be put in the organic waste garbage can:

  • Packaged food and fruit and vegetable nets
  • (Biodegradable) plastic bags, coffee capsules and disposable tableware
  • Household waste such as broken glass, ceramics, ash and garbage
  • Barbecue charcoal, candle remains, napkins and vacuum cleaner bags
  • Animal litter and excrement
  • Absorbent cotton, medicines, toiletries, diapers and cigarette butts
  • Liquid waste and oils

All of this waste belongs in the residual waste.

Also not organic waste:

  • Coarse waste such as furniture and garden wood
  • Stones, earth and sand
  • Textiles and leather

Collection takes place every 14 days. The dates can be found in your Bremen waste calendar. Please put the organic waste garbage can out the day before collection from 6 p.m. at the earliest, but no later than 6 a.m. on the day of collection.

Requirements

You are a property owner or owner of a private residential unit and are connected to the municipal residual waste disposal system. Tenants please contact the landlord.
