Red classic car license plate




    	    

		    
Red classic car license plates can be applied for for vehicles that were first put on the road at least 30 years ago at the time of their assessment as classic cars, are largely in their original condition, are in a good state of preservation and are used to maintain the vehicle's cultural heritage. 

The number of the license plate begins with "07".

Vehicles are considered "historic" if they were first registered at least 30 years ago. The date of the first registration is decisive.  

The license plate may only be used in the following cases:  


  • Participation in events that serve the presentation of vintage vehicles and the "preservation of motor vehicle cultural assets", as well as for journeys to and from such events
  • Test drives, test drives and transfer drives
  • Journeys for the maintenance and repair of classic cars
  • For a necessary journey for refueling and exterior cleaning on the occasion of a journey according to the above points as well as for a necessary journey for the purpose of repair or maintenance of the vehicle concerned (§ 43 para. 1 FZV)
								    

									    Requirements
  • First registered at least 30 years ago Assessment by an officially recognized expert from a technical inspection body or a test engineer from an officially recognized inspection organization
  • Largely original condition and good state of preservation of the vehicle
  • No outstanding fees and expenses from previous registration processes
  • No motor vehicle tax arrears (including ancillary tax payments, such as interest, late payment penalties)

In the event of payment or tax arrears, the Central Vehicle Registration Authority may not register the vehicle until these have been settled.
