If you work in the technical field of radiation protection (e.g. operating X-ray equipment or handling radioactive substances), you must provide proof of the necessary specialist knowledge. You can apply for this from the competent authority for radiation protection.
Basic information
If you intend to operate X-ray equipment or handle radioactive substances, you will need a certificate of competence from the competent authority for radiation protection as proof of the specialist knowledge you have acquired.
To do this, you must first successfully complete a recognized course to acquire the specialist knowledge. You can then apply for a certificate of specialist knowledge with additional documents.

- You can demonstrate the necessary practical experience.
- You have successfully completed a course to acquire the required specialist knowledge.

- Proof of training suitable for the respective field of application
- Proof of practical experience (certificate of competence)
- Proof of successful participation in recognized courses (must not date back more than 5 years)
