Apply for a special permit to drive on Bremen's dykes

For new applications and renewals:

Please complete the online form. Attach the required supporting documents to your online application.

If it is not possible for you to send us the required documents as file attachments, you can also send them by email. Of course, you can also send them by post or drop them in your letterbox. Please make sure that all your documents (number) can be clearly assigned to your application.

In the event of a vehicle change or license plate change:

Please submit the original exemption permit and the copy of the new registration certificate Part I by post or use our in-house letterbox.

The exemption permit and the invoice will be sent to you by post.

In the case of weight-restricted dykes, a special permit for weight-restricted roads must be applied for if the permissible total weight is exceeded.

The extract from the land register or the land tax assessment notice is required so that the applicant can provide proof of ownership. This does not apply to the residents of the dyke roads, but mainly to farmers who have land, meadows etc. there but do not live there. Or horse owners who have bought a meadow on the dyke and have stabled their horse there, etc.

The extract from the land register is required, as land (meadows etc.) is not listed individually in the land tax assessment notice, but this proof is essential for checking the application to drive on dyke roads and paths.

Guests of the pubs and restaurants located on the roads and paths mentioned, acquaintances, friends of residents / residents do not receive an annual exemption permit.
However, you can obtain day passes for driving on the dykes from some police stations in Horn, Oberneuland, Borgfeld, Schwachhausen and Findorff.

An extension of the permit for horse farm visitors is only issued for one year.
