Procedure
The Christmas market is a "fairground" (according to § 68 paragraph 2, the trade regulations).
Therefore every applicant is allowed to participate in the market. However, the organizer is authorized to exclude individual applicants from participation for objectively justified reasons. This applies in particular if the available space is not sufficient.
For the Christmas market, an average of about 400 applications are received. Due to the limited space available, only less than half can be admitted. Different branches and types of offers are admitted in a numerical proportion to each other, so that the character of the event, which has grown over the years, is preserved. Furthermore, it should be ensured that the expectations of the audience are met.
The prospect of admission is open to those who
- can show an attractive, high-quality offer and the
- has adapted its (independently managed) operation to the high design standards of the current Christmas market.
