The basic prerequisite for the granting of a license to broker sports bets in a betting agency (betting office) is that the sports betting operator has a license in accordance with Sections 4a to 4e, Section 10a of the State Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV).
Basic information
With the most recent amendment to the Interstate Treaty on Gambling, private sports betting providers have been granted the opportunity to obtain a license in accordance with Sections 4a et seq. of the Interstate Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV) for the organization of sports betting on the internet and terrestrially through betting agencies as of 01.01.2020. The brokerage of sports bets in these betting agencies requires an additional brokerage license for the respective location in accordance with the state-specific requirements.
