Basic information
In Bremen, blind people can apply for so-called blindness assistance under SGBXII in addition to the state care allowance due to blindness if they only have a low income or assets. They can apply for blindness assistance in the same way as the state care allowance at the relevant social center or specialist service in their place of residence.
Assistance for the blind in accordance with the Social Security Code XII with low income and assets currently amounts to
- adult blind people: 880.28 euros
- Blind minors: 440.90 euros
If you receive state care allowance due to blindness, the state care allowance will be offset against the assistance for the blind. You will then receive less assistance for the blind.
Requirements
Aid to the blind supports the following groups of people, provided that they have only a small income or assets at their disposal:
- blind people
- people whose visual acuity in the better eye is not more than 1/50
- people with equally severe impairment of vision
