Anyone who was sentenced to deprivation of liberty in the former GDR in violation of the rule of law and suffered damage to their health as a result of this deprivation of liberty will receive care. Care is also provided to anyone who has suffered damage to their health as a result of an official measure taken by a government agency in the former GDR if this measure is incompatible with the fundamental principles of a free constitutional order.

								    

									    Requirements
Persons who were taken into custody in the former Soviet occupation zone or in the former Soviet sector of Berlin or in the German territories for political reasons for which they are not responsible according to the free democratic view and who have suffered damage to their health in the process receive benefits under the Prisoner Assistance Act.
