The validity of the certificate of international mediation can be extended by 1 year upon request.
Basic information
The adoptive parents receive a certificate of proper placement from the international placement agency (certificate of international placement).
This certificate can be used to settle official proceedings in connection with the adopted child.
The certificate is valid for 2 years and ends with the court decision on the international adoption. If the procedure has not been completed within the 2 years, the certificate can be extended by 1 year on request.
Requirements
- The certificate of international mediation is only required if there is no certificate under the Hague Adoption Convention.
- Recognition of the foreign decision on the adoption must have been applied for at a family court in Germany.
