Applying for accompanied driving from the age of 17


Would you like to get your driver's license before your 18th birthday? Then you can take part in "Accompanied driving from 17"?

Young people can start their driving school training one year earlier. After successfully passing their driving test, they receive a license for categories B and BE (passenger cars). However, they may only drive when accompanied by a named person. The accompanying person must meet certain requirements.

Requirements

  • Requirements as for a normal driving license
  • The legal guardians (usually the parents) must agree to the participation and also declare their consent to the accompanying persons

Requirements for accompanying persons:

  • Completion of the 30th year of age,
  • Possession of a valid driving license category B (or 3) for at least five years (the accompanying person must also have their driving license with them)
  • no more than one point on the driving aptitude register at the time the test certificate is issued
  • not accompanying the holder of a test certificate if the limit values of 0.25 mg/l or 0.5 per mille of alcohol in the blood are exceeded or if the accompanying person is under the influence of intoxicating substances.

What documents do I need?

  • Identity card
  • Passport
  • Proof of participation in a training course in life-saving emergency measures
  • Vision test certificate (not older than 2 years)
  • Declaration of consent by the person with custody

    as well as their identity documents (also possible as copies) and, if applicable, proof of custody

  • List of accompanying persons
  • Declaration of consent of each accompanying person with a copy of the identity card and driving licence
