You have a professional qualification as a teacher from abroad and want to work in Germany? Then you need to have your professional qualification recognized.
Basic information
The State Examination Office is responsible for teaching examinations. It is responsible for determining the professional qualifications of foreign teachers for the acquisition of teaching and teaching qualification and for carrying out the relevant recognition procedures.
The determination of the equivalence of a teaching profession qualification acquired abroad with a teaching profession qualification in Bremen forms the basis for the recognition of foreign teaching profession qualifications. The prerequisite for equivalence is that there are no significant differences between the training abroad and the training for the intended teaching profession in Bremen according to the legal provisions. If significant differences or deviations are found in this respect, these can be compensated for by respective training and qualification measures. The decision on equivalence is made by the State Examination Office.
Requirements
- You have a professional qualification as a teacher from abroad.
- You want to work as a teacher in the chosen federal state.
You must meet further requirements for employment in the teaching profession:
- You have German language skills at the required level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The competent office will inform you about the required language level.
- Personal suitability: you are reliable for work as a teacher and have no criminal record.
- Health suitability: You are in good health.
