Basic information
The chairperson of the Judicial Examination Office will decide on your admission to the compulsory state examination upon application.
Requirements
Admission to the compulsory state examination requires that you
- have studied law for at least 6 semesters, of which at least 4 semesters at a German university, of which at least 2 semesters at the Faculty of Law at the University of Bremen,
- have attended courses in the compulsory subjects (core areas of civil law, criminal law, public law and European law including procedural law as well as basic legal history and legal theory subjects such as German legal history, Roman law, constitutional history of modern times, philosophy of law, sociology of law and legal methodology),
- have completed the practical study periods totaling 13 weeks in accordance with the State Law on Legal Education - JAG,
- have successfully participated in an advanced exercise in civil law, criminal law and public law,
- have successfully participated in a seminar or an equivalent course in a basic subject,
- have successfully attended a foreign-language law course or a law-oriented language course,
- have passed the intermediate examination.

- Civil Law, Criminal Sciences/Criminal Law and Public Law (by submitting a Pabo data sheet)
- Proof of successful participation in a course with written work in a basic subject
