Apply for a pole fishing license

With a pole fishing license you may fish in the following areas:

• in the Weser within the Bremen state border
• in the Kleine Weser
• in the Lesum upstream to the Burger road bridge
• in the tidal part of the Geeste

Fishing is not permitted in nature conservation and fish protection areas.

The pole fishing license entitles you to fish with a maximum of 2 poles.

If you have lost your pole fishing license or it has been stolen, you must apply for a new one.

Change to the Bremen pole fishing law

From now on, you must present proof that you have passed a fishing test if you wish to apply for a pole fishing license.

Re-examination of already issued stock fishing licenses

All holders of a stock fishing license who acquired it before 31.12.2023 must subsequently take a fishing test. Otherwise their current stock fishing license will lose its validity.

The following deadlines apply:

• stock fishing licenses issued before 01.01.2010 lose their validity at the end of 31.12.2026
• Stock fishing permits issued after 01.01.2010 and up to 31.12.2019 lose their validity at the end of 31.12.2028
• Stock fishing permits issued after 01.01.2020 lose their validity at the end of 31.12.2030

• Main residence in Bremen
• Passed the fishing examination at the Bremen State Fishing Association.
