Procedure

The examinations consist of a written and an oral-practical part, for which only those applicants who have passed the written part are admitted.

The examination is not an examination in the sense of a performance check to determine a specific qualification, but serves to prevent risks to the health of individual citizens and the population. According to the Heilpraktikergesetz, the question of whether the license would pose a risk to public health must therefore be investigated. This means that, in addition to knowledge of the relevant health regulations, basic medical knowledge must also be examined, without which medical activities could easily be associated with risks to human health.

Information on the contents of the examination can be found under "Further information" - "Where can I find out more?" - "Heilpraktikererlaubnis" at the public health department.

In addition to the general Heilpraktiker license, it is possible to apply for the following sectoral Heilkundeerlaubnises in Bremen:

  • Permission to practice medicine professionally in the field of psychotherapy
  • Permission to practice medicine professionally in the field of physiotherapy
  • Permit for the professional practice of medicine in the field of podiatry

For further information on sectoral medical licenses, please contact Ms. Michaelis from the Public Order Office.
